Wakesurf tricks off axis aerials

Authors: Flyboy Wakesurf

Some more wakesurf trick tips. Currently there are two broadly recognized off-axis aerial wakesurf tricks, and while we will tell you that only one currently is recognized, and so you may not want to bother learning the other or developing your own, we also hope and want to encourage you to develop your own style and wakesurf tricks and further progress the sport rather than letting other folks dictate where the sport grows. The progression of the sport will come from those who break away from the attempts to organize and categorize based upon THEIR perceptions.  Your style and skill set ROCKS, regardless of what you are told and you should pursue that to it’s maximum potential.

One off-axis air and this is the only one that is scored, but check with any potential contest as that may or may not be true, this was the only off-axis scored in a contest earlier this year. It’s a tail high landing back into the wake.

Now a second off-axis aerial is where the bottom of the board is vertical towards the boat, for that split second your feet are basically not on the board, just your toes and you have to manage the board with your toes. Now THIS trick isn’t scored or at least wasn’t in one contest this year. The bottom of the board is basically vertical to the boat.

Now just as a means of differentiation here is a standard air, if you look at the three pictures it’s very obvious the difference in orientation of the boards and that middle picture takes quite a bit of manipulation in the air. Before making efforts to learn it, because falls learning this can be painful, it may not be scored and you should check with any contest to see if it’s recognized.  Again we want to reiterate, please don’t allow the progression of the sport to deteriorate because of what other folks deem is appropriate. You have far more vision and creativity, don’t allow either the few or the herd dictate what is cool or of value. Your own personal style and the tricks you develop ROCK and you should contiue developing them to the fullest potential.  Break away from the efforts to mold where the sport progesses and YOU become that progression.
